2. Old business from the previous meeting was discussed. There was a constitutional amendment proposed at the last meeting to change the number of board members to be present for a quorum from 3 to 2. The amendment was discussed at length by the membership.  During the discussion a motion was made by Kenny Rice to change the constitution to increase the number of board members from 3 to 4 by adding the most recent past chairman to the board. It was seconded and will be voted on at the next meeting. Paul Alesu moved that the vote on the amendment to change the quorum from 3 to 2 be postponed until the next meeting. That move was seconded and the vote was postponed.

3. The new officers were elected. They are Bob Spiegel Chairman, Kenny Rice Vice-Chairman, and Jim Brakefield Secretary/Treasurer.

4. Darrell Word announced that we need presenters for the upcoming meetings. We have a presenter for February.  James Mercier volunteered for March, Mason Weems volunteered for April, and David Black volunteered for July.

5. Scott Atkinson, the outgoing chairman of the Central Texas Section, was introduced and he gave a brief description of how the Central Texas Section is organized and funded.

6. The IEEE Central Texas Section Spring planning meeting will be held at 9:00AM on Saturday January 17th at the Quality Inn on Highway 35 exit 205 in San Marcos.

7. Jim Brakefield of Brakefield Research gave a presentation titled “Alternate Digital Design Languages”.  Jim gave a brief overview on the prominent design modeling languages available today. His main topic was on one of the languages called Confluence. Confluence targets both hardware design and embedded systems. The language is easy to learn, the typical user is productive the first day. The first license is free and each additional license is $240/month.

8. The meeting was adjourned around 9:30 PM.
